Lightning Photography Gallary

Great Lightning Photo Michael Bath has some impressive lightnight shots on his website, LightningPhotography.com. Mr. Bath has been taking weather pictures since 1987 and started storm chasing in 1993. Most of the lightning shots were taken around Sydney or the Far North Coast of NSW, Australia. You can purchase prints at his site from $11 to $52 for sizes ranging from 4″x6″ to 20″x30″ or simply marvel at the Favourites Gallary.

Pet Umbrella

Pet Umbrella Somehow I suspect the pet umbrella would fail on a variety of levels. I am sure your favorite pooch would still get wet, especially on their paws so they would still track mud into your crib just making shake slightly less water off. The concept of trying to leash either of my cats (which never go outside anyway so there wouldn’t be any point) is comical at best. Trying to add a portable roof right over their head would definitely produce interesting results. However if you feel the pet umbrella would actually work, I invite you to pony up the $20 and give it a try.

Twister, the Simulator

tornado simulator Not much for me to add here except you can have a fricking tornado on a table or in your living room and its not a bad thing. The kit costs $120 and you have to provide a 9-volt battery, dry ice, ultrasonic humidifier. If you do not have the ultrasonic humidifier, one is available for $50 at the same location.

South Dakota’s Cut-Off Low

South Dakota Cut-off low While it isn’t technically a hurricane since it did not form over water, it does have high winds and other bad weather natiness. These aren’t that uncommon, but it is kind of disturbing to see that sort of weather pattern over the middle of the country after having watched The Day After Tomorrow.

Close Lightning Strike Picture

Kane Quinnell's Lightning picture While Mr. Quinnell captured this picture over a year ago, it doesn’t make it any less impressive. And it is featured in the now sold out 2006 Australian Weather Calendar so that makes it kind of current, right?

Rainlegs

RainLegs in action The good folks at RainLegs in the UK noted that the most common place to get wet from rain while performing a variety of outdoor functions (cycling, rowing, etc) since they are more pointed towards the elements in these situations. Now perhaps I am old fashioned in thinking that you could just wear full rain gear or more likely I just don’t go outside enough to appreciate such an innovation. If you feel that such a garment could benefit you, they retail for $43.

Zanier Heated Ski Gloves

gloves that heat While I am not sure how pratical these gloves are and since I don’t really go outside, I guess its moot anyway until the power goest out. Anywho, if you are in a situation where these could be useful, it might be worth checking out. If thats not a raging product endorsement, I dont know what is. Available from Cozy Winters for $250.

Umbrellas Singing in the Rain

Umbrellas singing in the rain Apparently Peter Holden does not believe in the opening umbrellas inside superstition. He has setup 8 computer controlled umbrellas to be electronically choreographed to “Singing in the Rain”.
