Egg-Per’fect Color Changing Egg Timer

Egg-Perfect Timer I have never been proficient at boiling eggs not that I try all the often. Perhaps I would with the Egg-Per’fect Color Changing Egg Timer from Burton Plastics. This timer has a heat sensor in its sensor and detects when the center has been heated enough for various levels of yolk hardness. A black mark on a graduated scale to indicate how well done the egg is. The Egg-Per’fect Color Changing Egg Timer is available from Sur la Table for $5.

Magic-Bulb Digital Alarm Clock

Filed under: Light & Illuminated Objects,Links,Time Keeping Devices — roclar @ 5:50 pm
MagicBulb Digital Alarm Clock The Magic-Bulb Digital Alarm Clock combines timekeeping features and color-changing LEDs in a light bulb shaped package. The clock stands about 5.5″ high and is about 3.5″ wide and has the normal timepiece functions such as date, time, alarm and it even tells the temperature. The LEDs are powered by four AAA batteries and the clock functions are powered by 2 AG13 batteries. It also looks like there is a plug for an DC 6V adapter but it doesn’t appear to be included.

Triple Nine Wall Clock

Filed under: Links,Time Keeping Devices — roclar @ 5:40 pm
Triple Nine Wall Clock The Triple Nine Society has a geeky yet interesting wall clock at their Cafe Press Emblem Shop. Each number on the standard clock face is present with three nines and various mathematical functions. I have to admit that I had to look up how to compute factorials and I also had to remember recurring decimal notation. The Triple Nine Wall Clock is available for $13.

Gforce Power LED Clock

Filed under: Light & Illuminated Objects,Links,Time Keeping Devices — roclar @ 6:00 pm
Gforce Power LED Clock The Gforce Power LED Clock is and ordinary clock that is extraordinarily bright. Utilizing bright white LEDs made by the NICHIA Corporation, the clock displays all the standard information you would expect from a wall time piece: hour, minute, second, month, day of the month, year, day of the week and temperature in Fahrenheit. According to this eBay Auction, the clock is powered by an included AC adapter and there is no word if there is a battery powered/backup capability available. The Gforce Power LED Clock is available from Gadget Universe for $100.

Yamanote Line Clock

Yamanote Line Clock and Kanazawa Fountain Clock Here are two interesting time pieces from the land of the rising sun related to their Japan Railways Group. First, pictured prominently to the left is the Yamanote Train Line Alarm Clock which keeps track of the schedule for the Yamanote Line on of Tokyo’s busiest commuter lines. The loop takes a little over an hour to complete, so I am not entirely sure how the clock can accomplish this task plus I am not sure how the clock keeps track of both the inner and outer loops. There are two versions of the clock, version 1 is white with green accents and version 2 is green with white accents and both cost about $70. The other time piece shown in the lower right hand portion of the picture is the digital fountain clock/message board at Kanazawa Station (TechEBlog Referer). Both the Wikipedia entry and the TechEBlog referer have a link to a YouTube video showing the fountain in action displaying the time and various messages in various languages.

Disco Ball Alarm Clock

Filed under: Light & Illuminated Objects,Links,Time Keeping Devices — roclar @ 6:00 pm
Disco Ball Alarm Clock Here we have the alarm clock that endeavors to transform waking up every day into Saturday Night Fever. Whether or not that is supposed to be a good or a bad thing is an exercise for the reader. Besides having a pink ball filled with lights that light up whenever the alarm sounds, the clock functions appear to be relatively basic. The disco ball portion is powered by three AA batteries (not included) and the clock is powered by a single LR44 button battery (included). The Disco Ball Alarm Clock is available directly from Fantasy Toyland or Shop.con for $20 or on sale from Aunctionatic Store for $15. Searching for Disco Ball Clocks also yielded this purple and silver disco ball alarm clock at Young Explorers for $25 and this disco alarm clock at the Little Clock Shop which has a color changing LCD/LED and sells for $35.

Bomba Alarm Clock

Filed under: Links,Time Keeping Devices — roclar @ 5:50 pm
Bomba Alarm Clock The Bomba Alarm Clock operates like flip clocks that were very popular forty or so years ago. Designed by Dutch designer Will van den Vos and allegedly produced by Kikkerland (even though there is no mention of this time piece on their site), this clock shows the beauty of its inner workings. The clock measures 4″ x 8″ x 5″ and has a blue night light that can be dimmer or turned off. It is powered by a low voltage AC adapter. The Bomba Alarm Clock is available from the Little Clock Shop for $70 or from Moleskine Books via Amazon for $80.

USB Letter Opener, Clock, and Hub

USB Letter Opener, Clock, and Hub Seems like the trend of combining USB hubs with additional functionality continues. For those keeping score, we already have a USB Swivel Hub Card Reader Combo, USB Hub Tape Dispenser, a couple of Rainbow Penholder Clock and a USB Hotplate/4-Port Hub. Now we have a clock, letter opener and hub combo which can either be USB powered or get power from three AA batteries. No word or picture to indicate if it can be otherwise externally powered, but it does come with a USB cable. The letter opener functions automatically as the letter touches the spring slicer. The clock can function in either 12 or 24 hour mode and can display the hour, minute, second, month and day. The alarm makes a “bi bi” sound for 30 seconds. All of this can be yours for $15.

Gear Shift Clock

Filed under: Links,Time Keeping Devices — roclar @ 6:00 pm
Gear Shift Clock When I first saw the title, I expected this product to be a custom gear shifter replacement knob that functioned as a time piece. Sadly, this is merely a gear shift replica analog clock for your desk. There are very few details on the product itself such as whether you can actually pretend to shift the gears or how many or what type of batteries the clock is powered by. At least whatever batteries are necessary, they are included and the analog clock includes a magnified glass top for easy reading at a distance. The Gear Shift Clock with Metal Base is available from Gifts and Gadgets Online for $20.

Polar Clock

Filed under: Links,Online Time Keeping — roclar @ 5:50 pm
Polar Clock Yet another entry in the roclar.net Online Time Keeping is the Polar Clock. The Pixel Clock is available as a Windows and Mac screen saver and a Mac OS X Tiger Dashboard widget in addition to being available on the web. Its claim to fame is conveying the date in time in six separate arcs: seconds, minutes, hour of the day, day of the week, day of the month and month of the year, which change color as the arc is completed.
