The Lighthouse Shop is the latest to make a product in the shape of a household pet, in this case a light, and jam a cord where its arse would be and market it. The Cat Light is said to measure 370cm x 313 x 85 which seems rather large considering that it is illuminated by a single 40W lamp. It is constructed out of a flame retardant plastic and when lit, the skeleton of a fish shows like an x-ray. The Cat Light is available in orange and yellow with a white version presently out of stock with a cost of $102. The Lighthouse Shop also makes a Dog Light in green, pink and white for the same price as the cat light and a Sheep Light in plain and “pringle” for $61. |

Apparently dressing cats up is given the Cat Prin Tailor outfits that showed up last year and now we have the Hello Kitty Cat costume. I guess if your favorite feline isn’t cute enough for you, this outfit allows you to transform them into the queen of kawaii or more accurately a very angry animal with a Hello Kitty face outline and a cute little pink bib/bow thing. I am not sure what kind of relationship people have with their cats that make them think they can survive putting their animals through wearing this garb, but I am sure I would be relieved of some skin and maybe a major organ the next time I went to sleep were I to even attempt doing this to mine. Even more disturbing is the bib, bow, head piece and pink purse cost a whopping $158 since they only made ninety sets. |

A few weeks ago, Tommy was skilled enough to acquire three Superfly Monkeys during a Woot-Off and was kind enough to give one to me. During the last Woot-Off the screaming flying monkey was only available for two and a half minutes and featured a snazzy black leatherette cape with the Woot slogan and logo. Here is a picture of the black caped flying monkey from somebody’s resulting eBay auction for a closer look. I had never even heard of the Superfly Monkey before, but I have had quite a bit of fun with it at both the office and at home. My cats are particularly bewildered by it. They usually freeze while its in the air and then Kiwi usually walks over to check it out if its convenient. Should you be unable to score these fun little guys from Woot, you can get them from Amazon, X-Tremegeek or a variety of other vendors for about $10 each or less if you buy multiple monkeys. |

I have seen a wide variety of interesting products and packaging, but I don’t think I’d have ever come up with the idea to make a pillow look like a real fish and package like it just came from the grocer’s fish counter. But that exactly describes the Fresh Salmon Pillow right down to a bar-coded SKU label and a “FRESH” sticker. The pillow isn’t small either measuring roughly 27.5″ long. There is no mention on the width, depth or weight though to see if this pillow could fool somebody with its weight as well as its looks. The Fresh Salmon Pillow is available in .jp from Rakuten for $21. |

For my readers with canine friends we have the Industrial-Strength Play Screw and Nut Chew Toys. This toy purports to serve a variety of purposes. First this toy set is supposed to be super-tough being composed of “completely non-toxic” rubber. By the looks of it, I cannot imagine this set going the way of the Grinch. This nut and bolt also have a minty flavor to them which will give your favorite pooch a hint of minty freshness while they work over their teethies. Best of all, this is a working nut and bolt folks. If you have a clever and bored canine they may try to connect or disconnect them. The Industrial-Strength Play Screw and Nut Chew Toy Set is available from Uncommon Goods for $12. |

Its been about a month for the Cat Skins to sink in, time for more taxidermy this time for a couple computer cases. First up with have a family dog turned PC. When the Zimmerman family dog Dieter died, they had him stuffed and he sat in the living room for four years. They then decided that in order to make better use of space that they would combine Dieter and their home computer. The other case mod pictured to the left and linked below is simply entitled “CompuBeaver” whose creator, Kasey McMahon, ordered a stuffed beaver and turned it into a case. I cannot say that I have ever considered housing a computer in a stuffed animal, so I have to give these creators creativity points. But I cannot imagine having one of these guys staring at me why I was working or playing on the computer housed inside of them without being seriously creepied out. |
