Gforce Power LED Clock

Filed under: Light & Illuminated Objects,Links,Time Keeping Devices — roclar @ 6:00 pm
Gforce Power LED Clock The Gforce Power LED Clock is and ordinary clock that is extraordinarily bright. Utilizing bright white LEDs made by the NICHIA Corporation, the clock displays all the standard information you would expect from a wall time piece: hour, minute, second, month, day of the month, year, day of the week and temperature in Fahrenheit. According to this eBay Auction, the clock is powered by an included AC adapter and there is no word if there is a battery powered/backup capability available. The Gforce Power LED Clock is available from Gadget Universe for $100.

LED Drumsticks

PowerStix LED Drumsticks Naturally if there is a illuminated guitar pick there has to be other illuminated musical paraphernalia. Drumsticks seem to be the next logical choice and there are several different options to chose from. First up, from Discount LED Lights & Knives are the LED drumsticks which sell for $32 a set, are powered by six AAA batteries (included) and are available in 7 color and blue. Next are the Electric Glo Drumsticks which are made from Lexan and also come with batteries and are available in red or blue costing $18. Last and pictured in use to the left are PowerStix which are made from polycarbonate and have a urethane coat grip area to prevent slipping. PowerStixs also featured interchangeable and multi-color LEDs. PowerStix are presently back ordered from their web site, but normally sell for $55 a pair.

Lunar-Resonant Streetlights

Lunar-Resonant Streetlights Not sure on the cost or feasibility, but conceptually at least lunar-resonant street lighting seems like it would be a good idea. When the moon is shining at its brightest, it would make logical sense that less artificial lighting would be required to produce the same amount of total light. Right now this idea appears to be just a concept for now, but its still interesting to ponder the concept.

Disco Ball Alarm Clock

Filed under: Light & Illuminated Objects,Links,Time Keeping Devices — roclar @ 6:00 pm
Disco Ball Alarm Clock Here we have the alarm clock that endeavors to transform waking up every day into Saturday Night Fever. Whether or not that is supposed to be a good or a bad thing is an exercise for the reader. Besides having a pink ball filled with lights that light up whenever the alarm sounds, the clock functions appear to be relatively basic. The disco ball portion is powered by three AA batteries (not included) and the clock is powered by a single LR44 button battery (included). The Disco Ball Alarm Clock is available directly from Fantasy Toyland or Shop.con for $20 or on sale from Aunctionatic Store for $15. Searching for Disco Ball Clocks also yielded this purple and silver disco ball alarm clock at Young Explorers for $25 and this disco alarm clock at the Little Clock Shop which has a color changing LCD/LED and sells for $35.

XCM 360 Hot Rock Case

XCM 360 Hot Rock Case As I have proven before I enjoy pretty lights. While the concept of replacing one of my console cases with something flashy is fun to think about it, as they point out on [H] Console doing so is fairly intrusive and it does void the consoles warranty. Considering that 360′s now have an three year warranty that covers the general hardware failures indicated by the infamous red ring I don’t think I would actually change the case. Conceptually this case replacement appeals to me. Not only does it feature color-changing LEDs, they change color as the temperature inside the 360 changes. The color range is a little curious given that below a temperature of 29 degrees Celsius the LEDs are Orange, then it goes through purple, light blue, green, blue, red then above 48 degrees the LEDs flash red. The 360 Hot Rock Case by XCM can be purchased from Total Console for $65.

Kitty Hawk Ceiling Fan

Kitty Hawk Ceiling Fan by Emerson As a followup to the War Planes Collection we have the Kitty Hawk ceiling fan from Emerson. Rather then emulate the nose and propeller of a plane, Emerson has chosen to emulate the bi-wing design of the Wright Brothers original plane. Besides the fancy blade design, a 52″ blade span and a “Deluxe Emerson K55XL motor”, the Kitty Hawk has most of the normal fan features like three speeds, reversible direction and a light fixture. You can get the Kitty Hawk ceiling fan in a maple finish from Hansen Wholesale for $638 or you can get cherry wings from CeilingFansontheWeb.com for $679.

The Illuminated Tweezers

The Illuminated Tweezers Using traditional tweezers especially to remove splinters definitely requires copious amounts of lighting to ensure successful removal. So I can see the motivation for a pair of tweezers that have the necessary lighting already built in. Still, the $25 that Hammacher Schlemmer is charging for the pictured tweezers to the left seems a bit pricey. It does seem that they are a little unwieldy as far as tweezers go given they are almost 5″ long and over 1″ wide. There are other illuminated tweezers on the market such as La Tweez which sells for $12 or Avon’s Light It Up! Slanted Tweezer which they sell for $10.T

Lucky the Dachshund Accent Lamp

Lucky the Dachshund Accent Lamp Continuing from yesterday’s Cat Light, we have Lucky the Dachshund Accent Lamp. This lamp comprises a textured amber glass torso with antiqued brass finish on the head and hindquarters. The lamp is powered by a 74″ cord with an in line switch. Neither the picture or the details note where the cord is attached to the lamp preventing me from further buttressing my plug in arse pet lamp theory. Oh well. Lucky the Dachshund Accent Lamp is available from What on Earth for $50. What on Earth has a wide variety of similar accent lamps ranging from a $10 Firefly Accent Lamp to the $100 Stained Glass Dragon Accent Lamp which also includes a panda, bull skull and a flamingo. I did not realize that bronze and amber animal lighting was in such high demand.
