I haven’t ever tried to solve a Rubik’s Cube. I do recognize that it is a classic, and changes to the venerable cube interest me. I am not sure why anybody save the most hardcore cube fans would be interested in upping the difficulty to 5 x 5 x 5. There is also a 4 x 4 x 4 version. The Rubik’s Professor Cube 5 x 5 is on sale at Amazon for $19. |

During my hiatus there were a few Monopoly related links that I feel semi-obligated to post. First up, is Monopoly Mega Edition (The Green Head Referrer, Board Game Geek Page) which features a super-sized Monopoly board including twelve additional properties, train depots, skyscrapers, a “speed dice” and a $1000 bill. I usually play smaller games, so I don’t think I’d be want a larger board. I do think it might be interesting to try the larger board with four or more players. Monopoly: The Mega Edition can be purchased from Amazon.com for $30. In the same vein, there was recently a link to the Anti-Monopoly game (The Green Head Referrer, OhGizmo! Referrer) which pits Competitors against the Monopolists and purports to be an “upgraded” version of the original. I’d be curious to see how it played but not curious enough to buy the game. Anti-Monopoly can be purchased from the Anti-Monopoly web site for $21. Finally, linked below, is a Surefire Strategy entitled “How to Win at Monopoly”. It puts numbers on what DrFaulken and I had already determined for the best properties to own and to auction and let slide for less then full price. I wasn’t aware of what a gold mine the railroads were though typically neither of us ever allows the other to get more then two railroads anyway. |

During the months when the majority of trees have leaves, my Sirius Satellite Radio service is spotty at best for the duration of my lengthy five to ten minute commute. So over the course of these months I usually listen to various CD mixes that I change out ever few weeks. When I was cleaning out my Google Reader starred items, I found this Bioshock Music List from Major Nelson which lists the songs used as ambiant music in the game and decided to make a CD of songs from the ambient songs list with the Bioshock orchestral score interspersed. The end result feels sort of like playing game, a song or two from the 30s to 50s followed by a relatively jarring orchestral piece albeit without the gun play and splicer attacks. In order to get the score just do a search for “BIOSHOCK ORCHESTRAL SCORE” in the Cult of Rapture Articles to find the link to download the score. |

Statris is a Flash game where you play Tetris with geographical states and countries. The first time I saw Statetris mentioned, I only fiddled with the USA version where you have to drop the lower 48 states into place. I found playing Tetris with pieces that didn’t have perfectly perpendicular edges frustrating enough that I didn’t mention it. Now they have Statetris for Africa, Europe, France, Netherlands and the UK. Its even more amusing to play when you have no clue where the oddly shaped objects go! Anyway, it took me an abysmal 4:56.3 to complete the United States on medium and 7:09.2 to complete Europe on easy. Feel free to post how badly you beat my times here. |

The Xbox 360 Messenger Kit is available for sale starting today, so I thought I’d link to a few of the reviews that have surfaced in the past couple of weeks. Having endured the painfully slow experience of entering text via a joystick and the four available buttons on the 360 controller, I can understand the appeal of the “Chatpad”. Still if I need to enter enough text to justify plinking down $30 for an add-on QWERTY keyboard. I will probably wait until I start playing something that requires a large amount of text input first. I also hope the keyboard comes in black as well as white, because I am not sure I like the Elite controller with the white Chatpad look. The Xbox 360 Messenger Kit should be available it all of the normal retail outlets as well as Amazon and other etailers. |

It amazes me that Bandai Namco is still able to make money off of Pac-Man. Even though the game has been around for almost 28 years, it still resonates with folks enough that they are willing to purchase Pac-Man related swag. The latest are these mostly plush offerings from clubNAMCO.com. First up and pictured to the left is a set of six plush Pac-Man characters that feature all four ghosts measuring 7.8″ tall, Pooka from Dig-Dug which has a 10″ diameter and Pac-Man himself measuring in with a 12″ diameter. The set of six sells for $100 or you can get an individual plush for $27. They also have moving “power-plush” Pac-Man and the four ghosts for $100 for the set (out of stock) or $35 a piece. Then there is the Pac-Man Plush-Head which sells for $30 for the adult size or $25 for the kiddy size. |
