Brando USB to SATA/IDE Combo Kit The most expensive part of any decent USB enclosure is the enclosure itself as it has to be able to withstand a variety of punishments, allow for easy mounting of the drive and adequate cooling. Plus enclosure are generally only geared for one size of drive. What if you need to get data off of a laptop drive and you only have a 3.5″ enclosure? Brando has got you covered with their USB to SATA/IDE Combo Kit. $29 gets you the ability to connect bare 1.8″, 2.5″, 3.5″ and 5.25″ SATA or IDE hard drives or optical devices to you computer. Brando also has a USB 2.0 to SATA / IDE Cable that only supports 2.5″, 3.5″ and 5.25″ devices for $35 but has been reviewed a number of times. CoolGear also makes a similar device that is reviewed and sold by Cool Drives for $27.
